With these words, Portland-based soul/Americana artist Karyn Ann begins a slow, meditative exploration of what it means to truly be receptive to our communities and the world around us. Commissioned for the award-winning independent short film, Second Story, "Wasting Time" advocates letting go of control, letting someone else in, and letting yourself be open to the messiness of life. In this episode, Emmeline and Karyn Ann talk about recording in isolation, surrendering to the pain and beauty of rebirth, and not being afraid to stretch as artists. Karyn also discusses how the film's story mirrored her own life journey, what happiness looks like for her, and why it's good to get off social media every now and then.
