"You're a con artist selling works of art to an unsuspecting girl in exchange for her heart."
With these words, the narrator of "Romeo" points a sure finger at the world's most well-known romantic hero. In "Romeo," the young alternative pop artist Taylor Davidson flips Shakespeare's story on its head, arguably delineating the journey of Rosaline as the lover who was passed over for the ultimately tragic coupling of Romeo and Juliet. In this episode, Emmeline and Taylor talk about the magical but unexpected process of songwriting, the different ways in which inspiration can strike, what production correspondence looks like, and how songs are always safe spaces for feelings.
